If needed, you can ask for further information by sending an email to supporto@eathlon.it. In any case, if you have a medical condition, we recommend seeing a doctor or nutritionist who can monitor how your blood test results evolve.

Can Eathlon meal plans be followed during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

The Eathlon method is based on the Mediterranean Diet and therefore has no contraindications for people who are pregnant or breastfeeding. If needed, you can ask for further information by sending an email to supporto@eathlon.it.

Can I swap my lunch menu with dinner, or vice versa?

It is preferable not to swap the dinner menu with lunch. Making an exception is possible, but the exception should not become the rule. Each preparation serves its own purpose, also because of the time of day at which it is eaten.

What can I do when I have to eat out because of work or vacation?

In everyday life you sometimes have to “eat on the go”, or you have little time to cook and need quick solutions that don’t involve using the stove. That’s why the best choice is to go for:

  • Prosciutto crudo (dry-cured ham)
  • Bresaola
  • Tuna in olive oil
  • Smoked salmon
  • Plain or vegetable frittata.

To put together a complete but quick, good-quality meal, these options can be paired with bread, a piece of fresh fruit and, if possible, some raw vegetables.

Please also remember that among Eathlon’s features you will find the “Food Alternative” option, where by choosing “Swap Meal” you will have a range of easy-to-find one-dish meals, specially selected to contain all the nutrition of your meal in a single dish.

I eat in the canteen at work. What do I do about my diet?

You can use the “Food Alternative” feature, where in this case you can choose “Swap Recipe”, or pick the options available in the canteen that come closest to the recipes in your meal plan.

Why don’t the recipes show calories?

The Eathlon method is an innovative approach based on the nutritional and functional effect of food pairings and different cooking methods, which restore homeostasis in the various organs and systems. The principle behind the Eathlon method is to eat in a correct and healthy way, knowing the properties of individual foods and how they interact with our body. Less importance is given to counting calories, especially in non-competitive sport, because not all calories are equal.

For example: Meal A) 180-250 g of grilled fish, green salad with raw red onion and pineapple. Meal B) 130-150 g of cheese, boiled green beans and a banana. These two meals contain the same calories, but completely different effects!

Meal A) A diuretic meal that stimulates metabolism, with a good protein structure that doesn’t hold back diuresis.

Meal B) The exact opposite effect: it holds back diuresis and slows down metabolism.

Are the weights of foods meant raw or cooked?

The weights given in the diet refer to raw weight, edible part, that is, what you actually eat. Only for legumes does the given weight refer to cooked weight, and this is specified in the recipe description.

Can I increase the amount of vegetables?

Vegetables, both cooked and raw, are not given with quantities, which means the portions are unlimited. The Mediterranean Diet food pyramid recommends 300 g for each portion of vegetables included in meals.

Fruit: how can I leave it out or replace it?

Fresh fruit can be replaced with nuts or dried fruit, or with a portion of vegetables.

Can I use as much salt as I like?

Table salt (sodium chloride) should be used in moderation; so, for example, we can get used to the taste of vegetables, which are rich in minerals but milder in flavor, without using table salt, or we can cook fish without salt; on the other hand, we can use it when cooking pasta or for meat, rice and potatoes.

Why isn’t the amount of extra virgin olive oil specified?

Extra virgin olive oil is a natural remedy, rich in antioxidants including vitamin E, tocopherol and various phenolic compounds, all molecules able to protect our body from aging by fighting free radicals.

People who consume extra virgin olive oil have lower levels of inflammation in the blood. In addition, eating extra virgin olive oil makes our body produce sirtuins, substances that activate metabolism.

Can I drink alcohol?

Alcoholic drinks are fast-absorbing sugars that can affect blood glucose levels. It is recommended not to drink alcohol; occasionally you can have 1 glass of wine, preferably red. You need to be very careful with cocktails and spirits, which can be had in small amounts on the free diet day.

How can I best plan my meals and snacks around my physical activity?

A light meal, for example rice with vegetables, is digested in about 2 hours, while normal meals of varied composition take 3-4 hours, up to 4 hours or more for the digestion of fatty foods and fiber-rich dishes such as legumes and fatty meats. During digestion a considerable amount of blood flows to the intestine to absorb what we have eaten: it is therefore necessary to avoid going to the gym or doing any sport in the two or three hours after a full meal. After a simple snack, low in fat and easy to digest, you can reduce the wait before exercising to about 1 hour, but this time frame depends on the type of snack. The ideal snack is made up of fruit or nuts, or a specific protein bar.

Please also remember that the Eathlon meal plan takes into account your total weekly training hours, ensuring an adequate and balanced nutritional intake that supports your sport and your goal across the whole week.

If you have special or more specific needs related to your physical activity or your meal plan, contact our team of nutritionists at: supporto@eathlon.it .

What does it mean that Sunday is a free day?

It means I can have a meal outside the diet plan, I can have a portion of dessert and eat differently from the plan.

I follow my Eathlon meal plan to the letter but I can’t reach my goal. Why?

Please remember that for any doubts you can send an email to supporto@eathlon.it to talk with our team of nutritionists.

We also recommend seeing a professional who can prescribe the blood tests needed to understand what the reasons might be.

What is the right amount of water to drink over the course of the day?

Under normal conditions, water intake follows the sense of thirst. Food, especially raw vegetables, contains a significant amount of water along with minerals and other micronutrients. Based on these simple considerations, a balanced diet can guarantee a water intake sufficient for daily needs. However, since water is essential for the body’s metabolic processes, the greater the metabolic work (prolonged physical activity), the greater the demand for water. In these cases the sense of thirst becomes stronger, leading to a higher water intake. The conclusion is that under normal physical conditions (without significant metabolic work) it is advisable to drink only when you feel the need. When a person is unable to feel or report the sense of thirst, it is recommended to drink about 10 glasses of water a day.
